Xtreme 160R 4V uses a 163.2 cc oil-cooled engine, a five-speed gearbox and 17-inch alloy wheels. The current Hero page lists dual-channel ABS, inverted front forks and an electronic throttle body. It should be evaluated as its own model: specifications from the older two-valve Xtreme 160R are not interchangeable with this four-valve version.

Four valves and oil cooling

The 4V designation refers to the four-valve engine. Its oil-cooling arrangement differs from the liquid-cooling system used on Hero’s larger Xtreme 250R. The listed output is 12.3 kW at 8,500 rpm, with 14.6 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Keep the original power unit when comparing brochures; a kW value and a PS value are not numerically equivalent.

Five-speed drivetrain

The motorcycle uses a five-speed constant-mesh transmission and a wet multi-plate clutch. This is a different combination from the six-speed 250R, despite shared Xtreme branding. Check clutch effort and the response in second and third gears on the intended commuting route. Published acceleration figures are manufacturer claims and are not reproduced here as results from a PLR road test.

Suspension and road hardware

Hero lists a 37 mm upside-down front fork with 130 mm stroke and a rear monoshock. The wheels use 100/80-17 front and 130/70 R17 rear tyres. These details are more useful for maintenance planning than an unsupported claim about cornering ability. Replacement tyres should match the approved construction, load and speed ratings as well as the nominal size.

Electronics and braking

The current specification lists dual-channel ABS, a 276 mm front disc and 220 mm rear disc. It also lists three riding modes, an electronic throttle body and a multi-colour LCD. Confirm this equipment against the offered production version, especially if the dealer has older stock. Mode selection changes operating behaviour, but does not remove the need for progressive braking and adequate following distance.

Rider fit and everyday load

An 805 mm seat and 149 kg kerb weight are the official fit-related starting points. Try reversing the motorcycle, mounting with a pillion and making a tight low-speed turn. Ground clearance is 165 mm, so the effect of passengers and luggage should be considered on tall speed breakers. The 12-litre tank is not a manufacturer-verified promise of real-world range.

Price and version verification

Ask the quotation to state Xtreme 160R 4V and the exact equipment package. A price for an older two-valve model or another ABS configuration is not a valid like-for-like comparison. Check insurance cover, registration jurisdiction and optional accessories separately. The official table identifies E20 fuel compatibility; follow the owner’s manual for the required fuel and service consumables.
